We aim to repair or replace all warranty returns within a reasonable time, but lead times will vary depending on the availability of stock and/or replacement parts.

What's not included?

Every handset purchased from Smart Cellular is protected by an 18-month warranty. This warranty covers all internal hardware issues not caused by external factors.

If you take your device to a third party, this will void the warranty on your device.

The warranty for refurbished phones and tablets sold by Smart Cellular differs depending on the device and only covers manufacturing defects.

With all refurbished devices sold by Smart Cellular, the battery will be covered by a 3-month warranty from the date of delivery.

All warranty claims must be reported within the warranty period and returned to our premises within two weeks from the date you have notified us of the repair. The reason why we ask you to do this, is to ensure that there are no further faults and delays, which could keep you without the device for too long.

You will need to send the goods back via a trackable service (Please keep your receipt as proof). All items must be returned to the following address: Smart Cellular, Eliot Park Innovation Centre, 4 Barling Way, Nuneaton, CV10 7RH. Goods should be shipped back in suitable packaging, as we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by insecure packaging.

If the device you returned has not been reset properly and includes iCloud / Google account information or passcode, we will not be able to test the device, and therefore we will have to send the device back. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have taken off all the passcodes and accounts which lock the device.

You have sole responsibility for any data stored on your handset/tablet, and we accept no liability for loss or corruption of such data. Please ensure you have saved all photos, messages and emails on from your device before you send your goods back.

The 18-month warranty explicitly excludes coverage for LCD-related damage, such as cracks, smashes, faulty touch screens, and pixel damage. Additionally, it does not cover software issues, malfunctions of biometric sensors, including fingerprint and iris scanners, nor does it cover issues with facial recognition technology.*

* The exclusions from the warranty coverage are specifically due to issues that arise from improper handling or neglect of the device. When a product is used in a manner that deviates from its intended use, or when it is not maintained according to the manufacturer's guidelines, it can lead to malfunctions that are not the result of inherent defects. Consequently, damages resulting from such misuse or inadequate care fall outside the scope of the warranty. It is essential for users to adhere to the recommended practices for usage and upkeep to ensure their device operates correctly and remains eligible for warranty services. We still offer additional service for you in form of a free repair, however, you are liable for covering the postage to send and receive the item, as well as the part(s). We will provide you with a quote before accepting the repair. We advise that you take pictures and videos of the device’s fault, with the IMEI number included, to ensure that there are no discrepancies. Please note that we are not responsible for how the device is received by us; you are fully responsible for making sure that you ensure the device and pack it well before sending it.

Please note that some of the devices we dispatch are still covered by the Manufacturer’s Warranty. These are the devices manufactured within the last 12-months. Apple’s Limited Warranty is up to 1 year, and Samsung’s warranty is up to 2 years. If you encounter any issues with your purchase, rest assured that you have the option to file a warranty claim, a process designed to be straightforward and hassle-free.

According to the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the goods must be:

• as described;

• fit for purpose; and

• of satisfactory quality (but with regards to the product(s) sold on the Smart Cellular, to the reasonable person's expectation as to quality considering the second-hand and renewed nature of the product(s), but should still work, unless the lack of functionality has been made clear to the Buyer or should have been discovered).

In the event of a defect: During the expected lifespan of the product(s) (meaning the period of time that the product is expected to last), the buyer’s legal rights entitle them to the following:

• right to reject the product(s): up to 30 days: if the product(s) are faulty, then the buyer can reject the product(s) and get a refund.

• right to a repair or replacement: if the buyer chooses not to reject the goods, they can claim a repair or a replacement, which shall be provided within a reasonable time (usually within 30 days) and without significant inconvenience to the consumer (meaning you should not have to make too much effort or be greatly disturbed), at the sellers’ cost.

• right to a refund: if, following a repair or replacement, the product are still not conform (meaning they are still not working as they should), or if the repair or replacement is not provided within a reasonable time or caused significant inconvenience to the buyer, the buyer has the right to keep the Product and obtain a price reduction, or to return the product and obtain a refund.

Up to six months after delivery, it is assumed that the fault existed at the time of the delivery, unless the seller can prove otherwise (meaning the seller has to show evidence that the fault was not present when the product was delivered). If more than six months since delivery have passed, the burden is on the buyer to prove that the defect existed at the time of the delivery (meaning the buyer has to provide evidence that the fault was present when the product was delivered).

Limitation period: The action resulting from defect can be brought during 6 years after delivery

Lifetime Repair Service*

* After your 18-moth warranty expires, we still offer additional service for you in form of a free repair, however, you are liable for covering the postage to send and receive the item, as well as the part(s). We will provide you with a quote before accepting the repair. We advise that you take pictures and videos of the device’s fault, with the IMEI number included, to ensure that there are no discrepancies. Please note that we are not responsible for how the device is received by us; you are fully responsible for making sure that you insure the device and pack it well before sending it.

How long will the process take?

Soon as we receive your item, we will inspect the goods within 24 working hours.
We will email you after we have diagnosed the fault and offer you a replacement or
repair, depending on the fault.

If the problem isn't covered by the warranty, or if the warranty has been voided for the above reason we will return the item to you.

All repairs and replacement will be sent out via our courier with 3-4 working days of receiving your item back.
